Cairngorms LEADER is support and investment for projects, available to groups and individuals living or working within the Cairngorms National Park, which support the Cairngorms Local Development Strategy. LEADER invests in Community-led Local Development; which is development activity run by, and involving, local people.
LEADER is a bottom-up method of delivering support to communities for rural development. Grants are awarded by Local Action Groups to projects that support delivery of a Local Development Strategy. LEADER funding is claimed once activity has been completed.

The aim of LEADER is to increase support to local rural community and business networks to build knowledge and skills, and encourage innovation and cooperation in order to tackle local development objectives. LEADER is part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) 2014-2020.
All projects supported by Cairngorms LEADER must demonstrate a community/public benefit greater than the benefit to the applicant organisation.
Projects applying for LEADER funding must have a minimum project spend of >£5,000.
