| • To encourage and introduce children to highland sport, music and dance. • Encourage and preserve ongoing future of the historical highland games. • Provide educational experiences in a fun and participative way for the younger generation • To provide a blue print for future annual events • To promote sustainable tourism in the area. • To provide healthy and sporting activities to children of all ages and abilities. It is intended to run the event over 3 days starting Friday 21st July to Sunday 23rd July 2006. It is planned to run the event annually thereafter. The initial pilot event (LEA 106) was very popular locally drawing attendance of over 2,000, with 1,400 participants on the day. The local Highland Games are very much in support as they see the event as a useful route to encourage adult participation in the games in the future and consideration is being given to each game having a children's event leading to a final at Braemar. | |
