| The main aim of the project continues to be the development of a sustainable John Muir Award (JMA) programme in the Cairngorms National Park that will engage people in understanding, enjoying and conserving the area, while contributing towards achieving the National Park aims. This will be achieved by the continuing deployment of a Project Officer to: • develop a programme of activity to promote the Award amongst target groups including young people and women; • run a programme of awareness raising and training events for existing and potential Award Providers; • train staff, rangers and youth workers and others to become JMA leaders and training providers • work with the wider community to encourage them to become involved in their local environment in innovative ways; • identify a role for the JMA in the National Park Plan. • to link JMA programmes to the special qualities of the National Park. • create volunteering opportunities for people of all ages to engage in activities that will conserve and enhance the special qualities of the Park and develop their understanding and awareness. • develop a CNP model for bringing groups from socially excluded areas and sectors of the community to enable them to engage in the special qualities of their national park.
