Cairngorm Leader - Cairngorms Local Action Group
Example Projects
| Aviemore Interpretation Boards (LEA153) | |
| To create new interpretation boards in Aviemore utilising existing frames. This requires new interpretation panels for all the boards. Three of the interpretation boards will be moved to new locations, two in Aviemore and one at Cairngorm Mountain. All of the aluminium frames will be cleaned and re-lacquered. A new frame would be provided and installed for the existing Speyside Way panel at the Dell of Spey. The proposed interpretation would replace ten year old, faded and illegible boards. Each interpretation board would have a different theme, identified by the Steering Group. The interpretation would be designed by the successful contractor. They will inform the public about Aviemore and the surrounding area in terms of the activities that visitors can do, and the cultural and natural history of the area. The existing boards have become an eyesore and are in urgent need of up dating and replacement. The aluminium frames are attractive and can be renovated and re-used. This project is complementary to the bronze sculpture and wishing well intended for the main Aviemore site. The most important element of the project is that the various community bodies have come together for the good of the village and have worked well together with enthusiasm to create a focal point for Aviemore, showing that they have the skills and expertise to develop and complete a complicated project. The LEADER contribution is substantial; however, we consider it important to raise community confidence in Aviemore by assisting them in the completion of this complex and expensive project. | |
