Being Young in Badenoch
The main aims of the project are:
• To enrich the lives of young people by providing them with free, fun, funky and friendly arts activities in the evenings during the autumn and winter 2006.
• To create a united approach in the delivery of youth services in Badenoch and Strathspey.
• To provide young people opportunities to divert them from anti-social behaviour and substance misuse.
• To build relationships with the young people, to work with them on a longer term basis addressing anti-social behaviour issues.
• Young people are empowered to work towards a shared goal and take ownership of the project.
• Young people have the opportunity to develop arts based skills.
• Young people have the opportunity to display their art work on a public platform (the Iona Gallery) in a professional art gallery resulting in increased confidence and self-esteem.
• Young people have the opportunity to develop interpersonal skills in a safe and friendly environment.
• Young people from different communities have the opportunity to network with peers’ outwith the school environment.
• Youth and Street workers will develop arts based skills by working with and learning from specialist arts tutors to help sustainability of longer term work.
• Young people will have easy access to the activities on offer.
