Phase 1: This trip, for farmers and crofters from the Cairngorms and surrounding area is being set up to enable exchange with crofters, Tiree Rural Centre Committee and the Tiree Development Officer who have been involved in a marketing strategy for a number of years for Tiree. It aims to develop an understanding of the processes involved in the development of the new Tiree Market and Rural Centre (built under a Processing and Marketing Grant Scheme 2003); and to explore Tiree beef and lamb production and associated marketing and Island branding plans, particularly from an environmental point of view. It is FWAG's particular aim to look closely at environmental emphasis on branding both on Tiree and around the country. Thus, social, economic and environmental benefits of the Market to the Island's crofting and wider community will be explored. The project was approved on the 5th September 2003. The total cost of the project was £1,943 with a contribution of 25% from Cairngorms LEADER+. This project is now completed.
