Cairngorm Leader - Cairngorms Local Action Group

A recent survey undertaken by the group has demonstrated a demand for more musical opportunities locally and Fèis Spè and to take this forward the Fèis plans to run a pilot Ceilidh Trail. This will consist of providing tuition and rehearsals for a group of young people who will then give ten performances throughout the strath between December 2003 and July 2004.

· To create greater musical opportunities, particularly for young members of the strath-wide community.
· To provide expert tuition in instrumental and group playing
· To encourage young musicians of all ages to develop their musical talent
· To create opportunities for young people, in particular, to play in public
· To benefit residents by providing opportunities to listen to live music in their own communities
· To offer more entertainment choice to visitors
· To encourage volunteers to support local musical activities
· To create a local demand for local professional musicians
The pilot Ceilidh Trail will provide cultural and educational benefits to young people and adults. In addition to the benefits described in 14 above, the scheme will provide increased opportunities for entertainment strath-wide through its planned programme of concerts and gigs.

This project was approved on the 21st November 2003.
The total cost of this project is £14,994 with a contribution of 30% from Cairngorms LEADER+
