The aim of the project is to create a three-year part-time developmental post for Fèis Spè and an associated program of work, in order to create greater opportunities in traditional music, particularly for young people in the Badenoch & Strathspey area. · To secure sufficient funding to allow for the employment of a 0.4 FTE development post for Fèis Spè. · To support and develop the Fèis Spè Music Club, to deliver 3 blocks of 8 weeks of tuition per year in at least three different disciplines. · To deliver Fèis Spè’s commitment to the Highland Council Youth Music Initiative based around each of the primary schools in Badenoch and Strathspey. · In conjunction with the voluntary Fèis Spè committee and annualised hours worker, provide support to enhance the developmental capacity of the organisation. · Explore with the Fèis Spè committee, the possibility of establishing the organisation as a company limited by guarantee, with Charitable Status. · To research and publish a directory of local traditional music tutors, performers and venues. · Over the course of the three years, set-up and seek additional funding for a range of key related projects, these being:- o Fèis Spè Ceilidh Trail and potential links to the Highland Council’s Celtic Community Festival. o Enhance the role of Gaelic within Fèis Spè, offering greater opportunities for young fluent speakers or learners to participate in Fèis activities. o In conjunction with the wider arts community in the area, conduct a full audit of local performance venues and facilities, with a view to greater usage generally. This project was approved on the 2nd September 2004. The Total Cost of this project is £52,469 with a contribution of 45% from Cairngorms LEADER+
