Community Development & Communication within the Cairngorms Area (Ref:LEA011) APPLICANT: Cairngorms Partnership

To produce an analysis of existing communities and umbrella community groups (such as community councils, community businesses and community development companies) within the Cairngorms area ;
To analyse the existing local community development structures including those provided through the public sector and European funding and identify the strengths, weaknesses and any gaps in these structures taking into account the views of both the community groups agencies and those providing support from above
Through consultation with the communities, and utilising the experience of other National Parks recommend an effective framework for communication and representation by which communities in the Cairngorms area can communicate easily with each other, the National Park Authority and other public sector agencies; and
To make recommendations for a strategic approach to supporting community development within the Cairngorms area.
The project was approved by the Local Action Group on 27 February 2003
the total cost of the project is £30,000 with a contribution of 45% from Cairngorms LEADER+.
